Setting up your gift product
The gift is a normal Shopify product. For the offer to work, the gift product must meet these requirements.
Requirements
- Status: Active or Unlisted. Draft and Archived products don't work.
- Published to the Online Store sales channel (not only POS), and available in your customers' markets.
- In stock, if you track inventory. The offer stops automatically when the gift runs out.
- Up to 3 variant options.
- Not a subscription product.
Use Unlisted to keep the gift out of your store
We recommend setting the gift product to Unlisted. It still works as a gift, but it doesn't appear in search or collections, so customers can't find it and buy it directly. An unlisted product can still be opened with a direct link.
Give something you don't sell
To give a sample, a surprise box or a gift you don't sell, create a new product, set its status to Unlisted, and select it as the gift.
Limit the total number of gifts
Cart Value and Cart Quantity offers don't have a gift limit setting. To give a fixed number of gifts (for example, 50 gifts), set the gift product's inventory to that number and make sure Track quantity is turned on. The offer stops when the gift is out of stock.
To keep selling the same product normally, duplicate it and use the duplicate as a gift-only product with its own inventory.
How customers see the gift
The app uses the product's title and image from Shopify. Customers see the gift discount under your offer's Discount name in the cart and at checkout.
