How is the cart value for a gift offer calculated?

For Cart Value offers ("Spend $100, get a gift"), the app compares your customer's cart value with the minimum you set for each goal.

What counts toward the cart value

The cart value is the subtotal:

• excluding taxes and shipping costs
• after product discounts
• after order-level discount codes

What happens when a customer uses a discount code

If a customer enters a discount code at checkout and it brings the subtotal below the minimum, the customer is no longer eligible. The gift discount is removed, so the gift is charged at its normal price.

If the gift is charged even though the cart is above the minimum, the discount code probably doesn't allow combining with other discounts. See Why isn't the gift discount applying or combining with other discounts?

Currency

The minimum is set in your store's currency.

Show customers how much is left

Add the {remaining_to_goal}   variable to the promo banner headline in Content & Style > Promo Banner > Headline. For example: "Spend {remaining_to_goal} more to get a free gift!"
